About Us
Why Another Organization Was Needed
During the 1970s, although three organizations for the blind already existed in Delhi, a significant gap remained in addressing the real challenges faced by blind students.
In 1975, a Resource Room was established at President Co-Ed Senior Secondary School. As a result, blind students lost access to scholarships provided by the Government of India.
Despite approaching multiple organizations, their concerns were ignored. Left unsupported, the students continued to struggle.
Formation of the Organization
In early 1976, a meeting was organized at Shahdara Bharat Blind School. Educated and unemployed blind individuals came together to form a strong and action-oriented organization.
- 7 November 1976: First meeting of 20 blind individuals
- 14 November 1976: Organizational framework approved
